Novelgen Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture; Representative Director: Atsushi Ogura) has made a trial shipment of "Bloom Oyster," oysters fattened with a short-term fattening system being developed under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) SME Innovation Promotion Program (Phase 3 fund program) (hereinafter, "the Program").
The oysters shipped this time are oysters from Murotsu, Hyogo Prefecture, to which the company's proprietary short-term fattening technology was applied to further improve meat content and quality. For purposes including examining the effects of the short-term fattening system developed under the Program, they were supplied on a trial basis to a restaurant in Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture.
About Bloom Oyster:
"Bloom Oyster" is a premium oyster with an exceptional flavor and high nutritional value, raised by generously feeding it the food that oysters prefer, made from abundant phytoplankton nurtured by the bounty of the sun and the sea, right up until just before serving. Characterized by rich nutrition and a mellow, deep umami, it offers a taste experience unlike any before.
Bloom Oyster is also an environmentally conscious, sustainable food that grows while absorbing carbon dioxide (CO₂) during its growth. The oyster shells left after growing are composed of calcium carbonate and can be recycled into soil conditioners, marine purification agents, concrete base materials and more, holding new potential to contribute to a circular society.
