Selected for the European Accelerator Program "Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) Paris"
~ Following our move into STATION F in Paris,
accelerating our European expansion with our proprietary microalgae cultivation technology "Bloomo" ~
Novelgen Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture; Representative Director: Atsushi Ogura; hereinafter "the Company") is pleased to announce that it has been selected for "Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) Paris," an accelerator program for science and technology startups in Europe.
■ Background
This year, the Company has been operating for about three months out of STATION F, a startup hub in Paris, France, and building the business foundation for expansion into the European market. We are now pleased to announce our selection for "Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) Paris."
■ About CDL Paris
CDL Paris is one of the world's leading acceleration programs for startups in science and technology. From October this year, for about nine months, in collaboration with leading entrepreneurs, investors and researchers in Europe, the Company will work on the further development and business expansion of "Bloomo," its proprietary AI- and IoT-controlled closed microalgae cultivation platform.
■ Expanding the results of the domestic SBIR Phase 3 project to Europe
The Company is currently a selected company under the SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) Phase 3 project promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), and is working to put into practical use a technology that uses microalgae cultivated with "Bloomo" to fatten oysters in a short period of time. To date, shorter growing periods and improvements in quality and yield have been confirmed. We regard this selection for "CDL Paris" as an important step toward expanding the technology and knowledge cultivated through the domestic SBIR Phase 3 project to the European market. Going forward, we will apply the same circular model for shellfish farmers and fisheries businesses in Europe.
■ Future developments
We believe that Europe, at the forefront of the world in climate change countermeasures and resource circulation, is the optimal market in which to establish the Company's first overseas business base. By converting industrial wastewater and CO₂ into high-value microalgae biomass and deploying it as aquaculture feed and circular biomaterials, we will contribute to the realization of a circular bioeconomy in Europe. The Company will continue to strengthen its business foundation in Europe while actively promoting collaboration with industrial partners, research collaboration institutions and investors, aiming to accelerate its business expansion.
